ANCESTRAL DESIGN

In this painting, I represent the kené as a living language, a painting of energy that is not only seen with the eyes, but also felt. Each stripe, each line, and each color are paths that intersect, separate, and meet again, like life itself.
The designs are not placed randomly. They are thoughts, chants, and memories that flow horizontally, marking the passage of time and the movement of energy. The geometric shapes are repeated because that is how ancestral wisdom works: it is transmitted, learned, and renewed without losing its essence.
The colors express different forces: earth, water, forest, inner fire, and spirit. Together they form a visual balance that speaks of harmony and connection. Each stripe is a level of consciousness, a space where ancient knowledge and spiritual protection reside.
For me, the kené is visual medicine. Observing it, the mind quiets and the spirit finds order. This work does not seek to represent a specific image, but rather to show the invisible movement that sustains life. It is an invitation to walk slowly, to listen to the wisdom of the ancestors, and to recognize that everything in the universe is connected by lines of energy.
