JARS WITH ANCESTRAL DESIGNS
Technique: Acrylic on Canvas Size: 1.46 m x 1.98 m

In this work, I represent the memory that is preserved and transmitted through time. The jars appear as living bodies, bearers of history, knowledge, and tradition. They are not just containers: they are symbols of daily life, of food, of water, and of the protection of the home.

Each jar is covered with ancestral designs that originate from the Amazonian worldview. The lines, geometric patterns, and colors tell ancient stories, speaking of the profound connection between the community, nature, and spirit. These designs are not decoration; they are language, identity, and cultural heritage.

The shapes of the jars also evoke the human figure, especially the female form, as a symbol of fertility, care, and continuity. They hold not only the material but also the spiritual: the wisdom passed down from generation to generation.

The background, filled with branches and leaves, envelops the clay pots like a living space, reminding us that pottery is born from the earth and returns to it. Nature accompanies and protects these sacred objects, integrating them into the environment from which they originate.

With this work, I want to pay homage to ancestral art, to the hands that patiently and skillfully shaped the clay. The clay pots represent the enduring nature of culture, the resilience of Indigenous knowledge, and the importance of preserving our roots so that they remain alive in the present.
