Artwork: Maya Kene
Technique: Natural dye on canvas
Size: 147 x 135 cm

Description of the artwork:

This blanket, painted with acrylic, features Maya Kene, a symbol representing the Shipibo-Konibo people. The design originates from the piri-piri plant. Kene is a technique used specifically by Shipibo women, passed down from grandmothers to mothers and daughters. This is why Shipibo women are always the ones who paint or embroider on the looms the most.
