Cicada - Kentori

Kentori is the spirit of solar song, the musician of midday. His body vibrates with the intensity of the heat, and his voice announces the cycles of transformation in the forest. In the Amazonian worldview, Kentori is not just an insect, but an interdimensional being who lives between air and light, transforming the sun's energy into sound. His song resonates when the day reaches its peak, and in that instant, the entire forest stops to listen.

Sages say that when Kentori sings, the earth breathes; and that his vibration is not a simple melody, but a balancing frequency that connects trees, animals, and guardian spirits. He is the master of natural rhythm, the one who reminds humans that life is also pulse, resonance, and silence. In rituals, his spirit teaches singers (oni ikaros) to modulate energy with their voices, to "sing with the body" and not just with their mouths.

In visionary art, Kentori is often depicted with a human body and a face or torso covered by the structure of a cicada: transparent wings, sonorous lines that seem to flow from his abdomen, and colors evoking gold and fire. His presence is that of a messenger from the lower heavens, those spaces where the air is filled with vibration and matter becomes sound.

He symbolizes rebirth through song. Just as the cicada emerges from the earth after years of silence, Kentori teaches that every human being holds a song that can only be born after a long inner process of darkness, waiting, and transformation. When the time comes, that song emerges as a cry of life, pure and luminous.

Kentori is, therefore, the spirit of healing sound, the echo of the sun on the skin of the earth. His medicine is to remind us that the entire universe sings, and that we too are part of that eternal symphony that vibrates between the root and the sky.
