Dicen que un abuelo indígena es un canasto lleno de semillas a las que va esparciendo en cada uno de sus actos, palabras o gestos. Durante el ritual del yagé expande las semillas de pensamiento de la vida que ha cosechado durante su existencia; cuando narra sus historias mira un horizonte que está dentro del él mismo, puesto que ha comprendido que es ahí donde está el cosmos. En cada palabra, cuento o historia vemos el mundo a través de sus ojos pues tiene la mirada del cazador, acecha, festeja la presa y enseña lo aprendido.
 
Un taita-abuelo de las tradiciones indígenas de la planta sagrada del yagé o ayahuasca es un ser al que le ha sido dada la comprensión de la unidad del sentir. Se comunica con plantas, minerales y animales, y su parafernalia refleja esta conexión. Viene de otro mundo; es el resultado de las visiones del cielo y la tierra que ha recibido. En ese lugar intemporal se encuentra su trono. Su investidura es un espejo de lo que se refleja en el cielo. Plantas, animales y vegetales penden de su cuerpo, que es en sí mismo su tótem. Se ha labrado un cuerpo donde el tótem se hace carne.
Los atuendos que usan los Taitas son objetos rituales que embellecen, protegen y otorgan estados para sanar, guiar y transformar.

Muchos de estos indumentos guardan “rezos” que logran canalizar la energía y el espíritu de diferentes animales; como los pájaros, el jaguar y la serpiente que con el sonido de sus cascabeles abre puertas a estados de sanción y purificación, entre otros.

Así mismo, muchos de los diseños de estos ornamentos: en cuanto a las figuras, el color y la forma, son códigos y símbolos entregados por la medicina a los tejedores y las tejedoras.

A taita-grandfather of the indigenous traditions of the sacred plant of yagé or ayahuasca is a being who has been given the understanding of the unity of feeling. He communicates with plants, minerals and animals, and his paraphernalia reflects this connection. He comes from another world; It is the result of the visions of heaven and earth that he has received. In that timeless place is his throne. His investiture is a mirror of what is reflected in the sky. Plants, animals and vegetables hang from his body, which is in itself his totem. He has carved a body where the totem becomes flesh.
 
The outfits worn by the Taitas are ritual objects that beautify, protect and grant states to heal, guide and transform.
 
Many of these garments contain “prayers” that manage to channel the energy and spirit of different animals; such as birds, the jaguar and the snake that with the sound of its rattles opens doors to states of sanction and purification, among others.
Likewise, many of the designs of these ornaments: in terms of figures, color and shape, are codes and symbols given by medicine to weavers.
