THE HUAYRURO TREE Technique: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 1.13 CM X 1.98 CM
In this painting, I speak of life that is born and protects itself. The huayruro tree stands in the center like an ancient guardian, strong and silent, holding the memory of the earth with its branches. Its firm trunk represents the origin, the root that keeps us standing even as time passes and everything changes.
The green leaves that cover the tree are a symbol of abundance, hope, and renewal. Among them appear the huayruros, small red and black seeds that fall like blessings. For me, they are not just seeds: they are amulets of protection, signs of good fortune, and balance between the visible and the spiritual. Each huayruro holds a story, a wish, a promise. Around the great tree, other smaller trees, plants, and animals coexist, forming an ecosystem full of harmony. Nothing is alone; everything is connected. Nature converses with itself and reminds us that we are part of it, not its owners. The blue background envelops the scene like a sacred space, a place where heaven and earth meet.
This work stems from my connection to nature and to ancestral beliefs that see the huayruro seed as a symbol of protection and life. The tree not only grows upward, but also inward, toward our cultural and spiritual roots. It is a reminder that, as long as we nurture our roots, there will always be life, color, and hope.
